Counties Must Pay to Keep Children
Meigs County officials were alerted by Hal Griswold director of the State Department of Public Welfare that commitments of crippled and dependent children to state institutions will be refused to delinquent counties. Prompt remittances will remove the barrier as the rotary fund, created to aid such care, has been depleted by delinquent payments. The law initially provided 60000 for crippled and 60 000 for dependent children with the State Board later adding 15000 to each fund. The Division of Charities pays and then collects from counties.
