Survivors of the Panay attack aboard the U S S Oahu and the British Bee describe the bombing and rescue as they head toward Shanghai. Fourteen wounded Americans, mostly Panay crew, are aboard. Japanese boats interfered with rescue but the Bee and Oahu completed the evacuation by night.
In Columbus a clash between the Davey administration relief plan and the League of Municipalities proposal prompted leaders to seek a compromise. Deadlock over matching funds and tax revenue sparked committee confusion and a test vote showing limited support for matching.

She leaves husband a daughter Mrs. George Keeton The Plains three sons John L Charles R of Columbus and Lawrence at home a sister Mrs. B J Saunders Corning and two brothers James L Weimer Corning and George Weimer Sayre. Funeral at St Paul Church Athens Friday 9 am with burial Mt Calvary Cemetery. Altar and Rosary Society to meet at 7 30 pm Thursday at the Chauncey home.
A Springfield jury of nine men and three women found 54 year old Harry B. Dingle dine guilty of first degree murder in the slaying of two officers. The panel recommended mercy. life imprisonment is mandatory under the verdict. The jury reached its decision after nearly four hours of deliberation.

A Steubenville East Liverpool and Beaver Valley traction car derailed on a downtown curve in East Liverpool. Eighteen injured, one seriously, as ice-coated rails caused the wreck after sideswiping two autos and hitting a pole in a used car lot. windows and the vestibule were crushed.
