Eighteen auxiliary policemen complete 262 hours of training and will patrol Athens streets this weekend under Athens Police Chief Charlies Cochran and Sgt. Robert Windle. They will work six to 10 hours monthly on a contributory basis, assist traffic details, support regular patrols, and be available for call up during civil disorder. A similar group existed in 1970 during Ohio University disorders.

AKRON Ohio AP A tentative trial date of February 13 was set for Larry Joseph Via 28 charged with first degree murder in the slaying of Jane Maguire 19 of Washington Pa near an Akron roadside rest stop. Judge James Barbato denied change of venue and special investigator requests and ordered disclosure of witnesses and grand jury testimony. Via is jailed on 100000 bond. Police say Maguire was shot Sept 22 while driving to West Virginia.
