Fire Destroys Top Floor of Nelsonville Spray Building
A Sunday morning blaze gutted the top story and roof of the Spray Building on W Washington St in Nelsonville. Three fire departments battled the three hour fire starting in the skating rink area on the third floor with help from Athens and Logan. Firemen confined flames to the third floor as water flooded the area and cooled embers. Officials suspect a cigarette caused the fire in the men’s toilet though the rink had closed Saturday night. The first floor housed Modern Plumbing Co and Mary Sparham Restaurant. damage from water was extensive.
