Mason County Leader Named as Possible State Auditor Candidate

Charleston Mail political commentator Lewis Welch says Mason County delegate George Rairden is being discussed as a possible state auditor candidate though a firm decision is not made. Locals recall Rairden’s seven terms in the House of Delegates and his 1927 start, with a 1937-38 bid for state senate noted. The piece also notes calls for a special session to enable overseas soldiers to vote in 1944 and suggests Governor Neely may avoid the session to sidestep political friction.
