Community Christmas plans approved by Troy Civic Association
At Tuesday night’s meeting the Troy Civic Association voted to sponsor a community Christmas tree and entertainment. A program committee of local school personnel and Ray Strickder, Miss Margaret Conklin, Miss Mary Place, Mrs. Laura Gunder, with T W Gardner as chairman, was appointed. The group is backed by the business men of Coolville, who are optimistic about the event’s success.

New Scout Troop to Be Formed in Athens
Troop 2 percent in Athens plans a new Boy Scout troop led by Tom Johnson with support from Arthur Cameron and Lee Beastey. Two troops will meet in church club rooms, which will be refurbished. The charter remains open for a few days to admit members. First six Tenderfoot scouts earning by December 22 will receive a Scout Handboot. A marriage license was issued in Athens County Probate Court to Herbert Eby 20 of Milner Nelson villa and Thelma Wachenschwanz 35 at home Carbondale. The Rev Johnson was named to perform the ceremony. Arraigned on a charge of non support Herman Earick pleaded.

Delegates Bid for Farm Meeting in Mt Vernon
Athens County Pomona Grange plans a campaign to attract the 56th State Grange session to Athens in December 1924. Delegates from Athens and neighboring counties will attend the Mt Vernon convention, vote on bringing the meeting to Athens, and receive civic support from local organizations. The Mt Vernon meeting opens Tuesday with official Grange business, reports, lectures, and degree conferrals through Thursday.

Not Guilty and Tax Inheritance Findings in Local Case
Trial was deferred for a later date as the accused Barlick faced a non support charge filed by Annie Knight. In estate matters, Charles Morris’s estate valued at 13 086.17 with 4 236.54 debts left 8 800.28 to a daughter, a daughter and son in law, four grandchildren, and a nurse, with taxes assessed against the daughter and nurse. Ernest Loeffler’s estate of 14 108.78 was not taxed, debts 1 345.22 leaving 12 753.45 to four aong and one daughter without tax. Ednard Carey’s estate grossed 20 947.99 with debts to be determined.
