Dr. Francis A. Dulak of St. Elizabeth Hospital in Chicago reports discovery of the germ linked to 11 newborn deaths in two weeks. Researchers found the germ by injecting rats with blood from a victim. the rats died. The illness is enteritis causing acute intestinal inflammation.

An army trainer, Capt. F A Avelino of the Mexican army, piloting one of 17 planes in fog, crashed into the Spencer Albright residence in Austin killing two year old Leonard H Albright in bed. The boy’s brother Spencer survived with a minor head wound. Albright Sr. teaches government at the University of Texas. The Herrington house next door suffered structural damage but all seven occupants escaped unharmed.
