Apartment of Former Athens Woman Robbed
Miss Minnie Dean a former Ohio University faculty member and Washington D C teacher had her apartment broken into in late November. Items stolen included a sewing machine sealskin coat heavy cloth coat silverware fur neckpiece two ketchbooks silk scarves a gold heirloom and more. Much silver was later found in a pawnshop inside a box with her apartment number and name. A convict named Kenneth Hundred was arrested in New York City and police recovered much of the loot from over twenty Washington apartments. Dean’s fur neck piece pocketbooks and scarves were recovered but her fur coat remained missing. A Washington woman recovered a fur coat stolen by the same thief who also sent Miss Dean’s cloth coat to a New York relative. One pocketbook had been given to another local woman by Hundred. The sewing machine was located in a secondhand shop. Miss Dean is sister of Frank Dean of the Athens Post Office.
