Prospects Good Deer Season in Southeastern Ohio

The Ohio Division of Wildlife forecasts solid deer hunting in southeastern Ohio as the season opens for gun hunters Wednesday. Open hunting runs December 12 to 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aerial surveys in 1955 showed hunters clustered in woods with large tracts untouched, and officials expect to log all deer killed to determine ages and totals. Deer may be taken with a rifled slug shotgun or a pumpkin ball.
