Police encircle Gallia Lawrence counties over bank robbery car

Gallia County and Lawrence County officers with state police and FBI from Cincinnati watched southern Gallia and northern Lawrence roads yesterday and last night after a car resembling the Circleville bank robbery vehicle was reported on Swan Creek road. A muddy green sedan with license FQ95 was described, but no pursuit succeeded and investigators warned that hideouts could be in Swan Creek areas. Reports noted the bandits were said to carry 11500 in cash and had earlier been seen near Gallipolis and Swan Creek as patrols remained vigilant.

Superintendent Wilson A Blazer says the check has not arrived yet but is expected soon, noting past decades saw similar gifts before Christmas. Former Gallia Resident Narrowly Survives River plunge

Chauncey H. Nida, once of Gallipolis and now in Columbus, nearly fell 75 feet into the Scioto River when his car broke through a guard rail on Riverside Drive near the Mound Street bridge.
