Authorities hunt Clara Phillips after her jail escape as clues fail to locate her. Deputies examine leads while police speculate she fled to Mexico, possibly boarding a plane from Brawley and crossing near Calexico in a stolen Cadillac.
Telegrams from Athens and Belgrade claim Bulgaria faced a revolt as agrarian rebels moved on Sofia. A Sofia telegram later said the government swore to pacify the revolt and Sofia–to–Belgrade ties were disrupted. Refugees report siege conditions and battles near Kustendil, later denied by the Bulgarian war office.
December receipts show a 13.79 percent increase over the same month in 1921 as announced by the post office. Kansas Mo. records the greatest rise at 27.79 percent.
Fire of likely incendiary origin swept the Brown Body company factory in Cleveland early today causing an estimated loss of 60000 dollars. The blaze damaged adjoining property and drew swift response from local fire crews. No injuries were reported.
