India, the Philippines and Pakistan led the appeal drafted in New York, with support from Indonesia Afghanistan Burma Egypt Iran Iraq Lebanon Saudi Arabia Syria and Yemen.
Harold Stassen pressed for an immediate cease-fire in Korea or, if rejected, an all-out assault using atomic and conventional weapons on Chinese forces. He framed the plan as his personal view, not official policy, and spoke after meeting General MacArthur, with MacArthur’s press officer present.

President Truman appointed Stephen T. Early for temporary service as press secretary. Early, longtime press secretary to Franklin D. Roosevelt, will serve until a permanent successor to Charles G. Ross is chosen.
