In downtown Dayton Julius Milnickel 19 was shot and killed after a group confrontation outside a pool hall. Warden Frank Eyman and 25 lawmen stormed barricaded cells at the Arizona State Prison in Florence. Twenty six guards and civilians guarded by more than 300 officers. Bus And Train Collision Kills Child In Dixmoor Crossing

A nursery school bus struck by a freight train near a crossing in Dixmoor Chicago area killed one child and injured twelve others, three critically. Trainmaster Edward Fike said the bus sat on the tracks as the Indiana Harbor Belt Line train approached. Fireman John Matthew, 36, leaped from the engine and lit a flare to stop another freight train and pulled several children from the wreckage. Matthew was injured and in critical condition.
