John Barker a 33 year old Athens man facing a shooting with intent to kill charge will be committed to Athens State Hospital for up to 30 days for observation after a physician's certificate declared him not sane. Trial postponed pending the outcome of the observation as the indictment remains in place.
GOP leaders in Ohio started selecting 52 uninstructed delegates for the 1936 convention. The State Central Committee listed eight candidate names for delegate and alternate at large and 22 districts sought 44 district nominees. Chairman Ed D. Schorr said the committee informal stance is to oppose Hoover's candidacy and nomination. the favorite son choice will await a later meeting with possible contenders including Chester C. Bolton Myers Y. Cooper and Robert A. Taft.

Mrs Mary Thompson aged 62 died Monday night at 5 at the home of her brother Hoyt Pinkerton Richland Ave after a four month illness. Born in Canaanville she spent most of her life in Columbus before moving here last summer to relatives. She is survived by three brothers Hoyt Ralph and Otto Pinkerton. Her husband two sisters and a brother preceded her in death. Funeral services are set for Wednesday at 2 30 pm at Hocking Street Church of God with Rev Towriss and Rev Nicholas. burial in Canaanville.
Barton Hall in Logan hosts the K. T. Crossen Post monthly meeting with district commander of the American Legion in attendance. He will report on the commanders and adjutants dinner in Columbus where National Commander Ray Murphy spoke. Vice Commander John DeMolet leads the session. MUSKOGEE Okla TM Six prisoners including four convicted in the Dec 22 1934 bank robberies fled the City Federal Jail after wounding Chief of Detectives Ben Bolton. The escape followed a gunbattle as the gang from the Trish O Malley group fled in a commandeered car. The escapees named are Dan Heady Dewey Gilmore Russell Cooper and Leonard Short.
Leonidas Owens aged 79 died this morning at his River Road home in Coolville. Funeral services will be held there Thursday at 10 am followed by 2 pm services at the Christian Church in Odaville, W Va. Burial will occur there. He was born in Wirt County and moved to Ohio in 1916 from Jackson County, W Va. He leaves a widow five sons C B Owens F B Owens W Owens W F Owens and F H Owens Chester and a daughter Mrs Elton Hoff plus sixteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Mrs Margaret Price 83 widow of Timothy Price died Tuesday morning at her daughter Mrs Frank Caplinger’s home on Brimstone Ridge after a week long illness. Funeral services set for Thursday at Carthage Church at 1 pm with burial in Carthage Cemetery. She leaves a daughter five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
