Plane Search Is Continued Near Berlin New Hampshire

A concentrated search for the missing Northeast Airlines DC-3 continues over about 100 square miles around Milan New Hampshire. Authorities lead the hunt for the plane missing since Tuesday morning with seven aboard including a stewardess. A witness from Arlington Vermont reported seeing the DC-3 near Berlin around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday with wheels down as if landing.

First Section Turnpike Operating Normally

The 22 mile first section of the Northern Ohio Turnpike returns to normal operations after yesterday’s ceremonies. When completed the Ohio Turnpike will span 214 miles from Pennsylvania to Indiana across northern Ohio with a target completion in October.

Germans Pay Negro Honor in Schwalbach

J Elmer Spyglass, 77, Ohio born receptionist at the American Consulate General, long resident of Schwalbach, is made an honorary citizen of the village tonight. Spyglass came to Europe in 1906 to sing with a lyric baritone, visiting many Western European countries and living in Germany most of his life. He moved to Schwalbach in 1944 after Allied bombing destroyed his Frankfurt home, and neighbors awarded him honorary citizenship.

More than 70 pieces of allegedly seditious literature were seized in a raid on Carl Braden's Louisville home.
