Election Director Cites Advertising Costs No Tax Vote Will Save County
Athens County may save about 700 dollars in ad costs if the repeal of the state income tax is kept off the November 7 ballot. William Howe, Athens County Elections director, notes potential savings in advertising and ballot card usage depending on whether the amendment appears on the ballot. The issue is already on the ballot by state printing, but could be removed if signatures fail to meet requirements. Howe explains the ballot wording is confusing and outlines required votes for repeal versus retention. The second ballot question concerns a state constitutional convention with 99 delegates if approved, leading to further elections for any resulting changes. A separate AP item from Winchester, England reports a teacher’s students give a humorous take on imagination.
