PARKERSBURG August 31 A portion of Federal Route 530 South from Pike to the Nutter farm in Ritchie County will be paved this fall for over eleven miles. Dr Theodor Lessing exiled former Hannover University professor and Nazi critic died at 61 in Marienbad Czechoslovakia after an assassin fired two shots through his window last night. His death marks a fatal act against Germanys intellectuals.
In Cleveland Aug 31 Miss Mary E Woods NRA regional director announced a meeting of the seven person Ohio District Recovery Board to set up administration for the presidents program. The first month of the blanket code neared a close with 119791 Ohio firms and 164724 employees under the blue eagle. NRA will offer impartial investigations and secret ballots to settle labor representative disputes.
John Parker Cooley aged 68 died this morning at his son Cecil Cooley’s home 24 May Avenue after a six month illness. Funeral service at Hebbardsville Presbyterian Church at 2 pm Saturday September 2. Survived by seven children Alfred Cecil Darrel Donald Dana Mrs Danner and Mrs Green. One brother Charlies Cooley.
P J Wood of the Motion Picture Theater Owners of Ohio announced a new admission tax on theater prices statewide to begin Friday. The tax is one cent per ten cents of admission over ten cents, about 12 percent of gross receipts, to be passed to patrons.

In Gallipolis on August 31 two watermelons grown by Letart Fails of West Virginia weighed over three pounds each. Clerks at the L. M. Niday Grocery on Third Avenue verified the weights.

Detroit August 31 Ford Motor Company employees were barred from the NRA Victory Parade as Henry Ford has not won the Blue Eagle by aligning vast enterprises under the automobile code. Ford declined to comment and remained vacationing in Big Bay Michigan. The industry as a whole showed no major wage or hour disputes with the code except Ford.
Oklahoma City report says police scouts Joe Jerking and Jack Story investigated a collision between R. H. Jones and Joe Colner. Both men claimed fault and offered to pay damages but refused to leave the scene. It notes neither was drunk and the officers found the situation comic.
