Coroner H. M. Warner blamed grief over her infant son for the death by her own action of 29-year-old Pearl Schmucker, mother of two. The bodies were found by her husband Lawrence Schmucker at their farm home 11 miles northwest of Wauseon after he returned from helping a neighbor with a silo. The three month old David Lee lay dead in the cradle. An autopsy on the infant was planned, with the coroner noting a prior suicide attempt by Mrs. Schmucker last May. she also leaves a 18 month old daughter Barbara.
