A U S government planned a city store in Chicago to curb high prices. Colonel Albert D. Kniskern announced tentative plans for outlets selling blankets canned goods rubber boots with mail orders at counter price. Overhead costs to be borne by the government as wholesale prices are expected to fall.
Southern Athens county ex servicemen are urged to attend a Tuesday Armory meeting to organize a local American Legion post. Major S M Johnson says every WWI veteran should join to help elect officers and draft by laws. Enrollment is one dollar with charter membership for those who enroll now. The meeting starts at 7 30.

William Hennessy aged 23 was instantly killed this morning at the Pike Mine near New Lexington Ohio after falling against an electric wire. The accident occurred in the mine area and authorities reported the death at once.
All Athens Retail Merchants Association stores will close for Labor Day except groceries and meat markets. Groceries and meat markets stay open until noon. Next Thursday will be the last Thursday for afternoon closings.

Each township will send a representative to the gathering.
Squirrel season in Ohio opens September 2 and closes September 20 under state fish and game guidance. After this year the season will run from August 20 to September 20. Reports indicate many squirrels in parts of the county where a heavy hickory crop may attract them before frost.
