Nelsonville Water Rate Hike Gets First Reading
Nelsonville city council approved the first reading of an ordinance raising water charges billed quarterly using the existing rate schedule. Two members opposed. The plan divides the city into three collection districts to smooth out monthly receipts and allows monthly payments on quarterly bills. Outside-city customers pay 150 percent of inside-city rates. Remaining readings set for September. The ordinance would take effect for bills after the first meter reading in September 1968.
