GI Bride Letters On Bavaria Homes Abroad Complaints
A wartime letter from Nita Wolasek to her sister in Athens recalls GI wives in Bavaria busy complaining about furniture and color schemes while housing is adequate. She notes officers’ better rents but similar comforts, describes daily life with her husband, a snapshot of their daughter Sheila, PX stock, and a brisk horse ride near the airfield ending in a comical dash. The couple plans a move to a new apartment soon.
