Athens Mental Health Center will shed 21 staff positions due to state budget cuts ordered by Gov. Gilligan. Nine regular employees and ten temporary workers will be terminated by Aug. 31, with two vacancies left unfilled. the total annual salary reduction is $55,000.
OU announces a reorganization effective Sept. 1 with Dr. Beaumont Davison becoming vice president for regional education and Provost Robert Savage as assistant to the president for planning budgeting and information systems. The provost office is abolished and several other posts are elevated or reassigned.
Eddie Stover and Clarkston Day of Cutler appeared in Athens County Municipal Court on charges including breaking and entering assault and battery and larceny. They allegedly entered a dwelling on June 29 to commit larceny and stole three batteries and 25 gallons of gasoline from school buses on July 2. Bonds were set at 1500 each with continuances to August 31.
