National Limited Discontinued After 43 Years in Service
The Baltimore and Ohio ends the National Limited on the Parkersburg to Cincinnati route. Trains 31 and 32 are halted, with only the Metropolitan service remaining via Athens to Cincinnati and Cumberland to Washington. The ICC and PUCO rulings cite adequate remaining service and declining passenger use, including Ohio University students, while noting the end of an era for a once premier Washington to St. Louis line.
