Woolworth Store in Athens Promises Local Talent and Tradition
The new 2 million Woolworth Co store on S Court St Athens opens Thursday with 125 employees led by manager Richard F Moore. Veteran staff include Betty Stage Mary Krivesti Peggy Sayre Marguerite Root Ardith Hart and Margaret Bricker, all long time locals with decades of service. President Lester A Burcham citing regional ties emphasizes fit with Athens architecture and community. Moore a 16 year veteran and Wittenberg graduate served in the Army Air Corps and lives with his wife Francine and two children in town.
