Two Nelsonville Area Soldiers Reported Wounded and Missing
Two men from the Nelsonville area are listed by the Department of Defense as wounded in Korea or missing in action. John Wesley Collins, 20, Hamley Run, hospitalized with leg shrapnel injuries after landing in Korea a month into the war. Lowell Gillilan, 18, raised at Mason City Hill, reported missing in action. he enlisted about a year ago and his mother lives in Columbus.

Contractor Hurt in Fall at Murray City School
Guy Millholland a local contractor suffered a fracture of bones in his left foot after falling from scaffolding at the Murray City high school building on Tuesday. He was taken home then moved to Mount St. Mary Hospital where a Columbus bone specialist operated Wednesday to reduce the fracture. Millholland held the contract to place the building in readiness for the new term.

Bedding Destroyed In Blaze at the Dew Hotel
Nelsonville fire crews responded to a morning fire at the Dew Hotel on the third floor where bedding was destroyed. The blaze was reported at 9 15 a m after the occupant left, and fire chief Dana Windon and street commissioner Raymond Raine assisted in the response.

Son Enlists in Army Air Force at San Antonio
