Carl W. Smith of Kenton Ohio was named secretary to Governor George White. He will take office September 1 succeeding A C Crouse who becomes chief probation officer at the Cincinnati Domestic Relations Court. Crouse previously held the governor's secretary post only during the legislative session.
Miss Mary Poston of Washington visits Athens Red Cross office and plans to organize a 12 member service and recreation corps to succeed the Red Cross worker at World War Veterans Hospital in Chillicothe. The group will visit monthly and bring playing cards and magazines. neighboring counties will assist.
Cincinnati Aug. 24 U. P. State Senator David Lorbach chairing the highway investigations said he was offered 250000 to retire from the Senate inquiry into Ohio highway activities.
