In a marked ambush an attack assassinates Micky Collins known as the leader of rebel forces against the Irish Free State. Police and military authorities report the assassination occurred near the capital district, prompting heightened security across the region.
Dublin dispatch reports an intensified drive against Ramon de Valera’s republican irregulars after the ambush killing of Michael Collins in County Cork. The Free State mourns Collins with calls to arrest De Valera and Erskine Childers, while Irregulars may be urged to halt hostilities. Collins had planned a Thursday interview with Marlen E. Pew of International News Service.
In Piqua Ohio blue law Sundays may be over after H W Kress a theatre proprietor was acquitted by a ten minute jury verdict. Mayor Deweese earlier warned convictions would not be pursued if enforcement failed.
