Fourfold plan dominates wartime veteran convention
At Youngstown Ohio on August 23 delegates from across the state discussed the four fold optional compensation plan urged by the American Legion and chose a new state commander. The plan opposes $1 per day service bonuses and $1.50 daily grants for farms or training. Delegates urged speedy Senate action after the House passed the bill. Resolutions call for unchanged draft board and welfare eligibility rules and insist on better care for wounded veterans. Columbus delegates proposed a resolution barring Legion members from labor disputes and restricting constitutional changes to the Legion.
