Nelsonville Light Fund Move and Smoke Law Repeal
A Nelsonville special session advanced a proposal to move 8000 dollars from the general fund to the light plant fund with Kennedy voting against it. A repeal of an August smoke odor ordinance was introduced for first reading after opposition from Hawk. Citizens from Jackson Street sought dust and smoke relief from an asphalt plant and were told further action would be taken at a third special meeting tonight.

Frame Dwelling Destroyed By Fire Near Mason City
The frame dwelling of Mr. and Mrs. Albert McDaniel two miles above Mason City West Virginia burned about 9 p.m. Sunday. The fire started in the upper northeast corner and spread rapidly. the home was destroyed with only a rear porch washing machine saved. Neighbors reported the cause as defective electrical wiring. The McDaniels were away at an outdoor movie. Mason City volunteers responded but could not control the blaze.

Carson Rites Planned For Wednesday
Funeral services for Guy Carson will be held Wednesday at 2 30 p.m. at the Middleport Church of Christ with James Walker officiating. Interment follows at Riverview Cemetery Middleport. Carson served in World War I with the 37th Division and held several local posts including Middleport village council member and owner of the Carson Recreation Center. Improvements Promised for Syracuse Park Grants
Pomeroy Meigs County representative O O Patterson said a communication from Governor Lausche stated the state landscape department will complete Syracuse Park with 1400 dollars authorized for a well shelter picnic shelter four outdoor ovens and six more tables. Assistant director L F Schaeublin said the department plans rapid completion of these items. Syracuse Roadside Park has been heavily used by churches fraternal civic groups and families for picnics this summer.

Middleport schools plan football and band practices as the new term nears. Uniforms were issued to the football squad last Saturday. Senior Band members meet Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the band room. Three-Foot Rat Tlesnake Killed by Youth Hunter
Nelsonville report says a 36 inch rattlesnake was killed in Dorr Run Hollow on Saturday by 15 year old Roger Burchfield of Dorr Run Road while hunting groundhogs. The snake had nine rattles and a button.
