Murder Charges Filed In Guysville Bay Death
Two Texans face murder charges in the death of William Oscar Young 19 formerly of Guysville after a barroom altercation in Athens County Ohio. Young died from a skull fracture after being beaten with a board. His body will be shipped to his home for burial. He is survived by his parents siblings and extended family. A 14 year old Buchtel girl died when the car she drove ran off Goose Run Road near Nelsonville and struck a tree. Three teenage passengers were injured, including Darne Smathers, Roberta Peacock, Thomas Meek, and Clarence Meek Jr. The car, a 1955 model owned by Acquin DeLong, was totaled. An F3B all weather fighter piloted by an Ohioan crashed into a parked plane during a night landing aboard the USS Saratoga in the Mediterranean last Thursday. Two people died and seven were injured including Airman W. Macklin of Glouster. Lt. Cmdr. Kenneth E. Cornell of Hilliard escaped injury as the Saratoga sustained minor damage and remained operational.
