In Mayor C O Fisher's court Saturday night four motorists were cited. Charles R Edwards of Middleport faced an open muffler charge with $5 and costs. Leon Miller of Middleport had a warning device issue for parked on highway with $5 and costs. Both were state patrol cases. Two men jailed by Patrolman Everett Bostic forfeited bonds Cecil W Price charged with driving while intoxicated $150 and Charles D Hysell charged with reckless operation $50.

Miss Laurie McKay in Serious Condition After Hip Break

Miss Laurie McKay, 91, fell at her sister-in-law’s home Aug 10 breaking her hip and is in serious condition at Meigs General Hospital. Her condition worsened Sunday after initial improvement. niece Mrs. Glenn Jarvis of Port Washington and nephew Robert McKay of Pu-wling Green have been summoned.

The Middleport emergency squad was summoned to Lewis Ellis on Custer Street to assist a street foreman stricken with influenza. A physician said the condition was not serious and the foreman would resume village duties this week per Mayor C. O. Fisher.

Directors Of Minstrel To Meet Pomeroy

A special meeting of the Big Bend Minstrel Association board is set for 8 p m Tuesday. They will pay bills from last week’s county fair Varieties and settle proceeds with Pomeroy and Syracuse Emergency Squads and the Meigs County Cancer Society. Plans for a Varieties show at Pomeroy Junior High School auditorium early next week are discussed with no admission charged under tentative plans.

Meigs Blood Credits Decline Urgent Blood Drive Planned

Meigs County has only eight blood credits left at the Huntington blood center after a June bloodmobile. Red Cross officials urge about 150 donors at a Wednesday bloodmobile at Pomeroy Junior High School from noon to 6 pm to meet a 100 pint quota and supply September and October needs. Prospective donors can register at the Pomeroy Red Cross office or walk in at the center.

POMEROY The Laurel Cliff Better Health Club gathered at Mrs. Lawrence Smith home with hostess assist by Mrs. James Gilmore. POMEROY Ladies Start Two Month European Tour

Dr Edna Mc Knight of Bedford Indiana and Eleanor McKnight Lang daughter and granddaughter of Mr and Mrs A V Howell of Pomeroy sail on the Cunard liner Queen Elizabeth for London last Thursday. They plan a two month tour visiting free countries in Europe including London Rome Naples Paris Venice Brussels Lucerne and other historic places. A Mediterranean Sea cruise is included with return to New York by air in October.

Thirteen Boy Scouts of Troop 245 left on Sunday for a four day camp at Lake Hope in a trip organized by Scoutmaster Robert Mills. The group traveled in Zerkle's donated truck with Mills returning, while Rev. C. E. Hoyt and Charlies Stobart remain with the Scouts. Farm Bureau Women Plan Accident Survey Across Meigs County

Meigs County Farm Bureau aims to cut farm home and highway accidents this year through a countywide survey of all member families. Interviewers will collect 1956 accident data for statistical use, with confidentiality, to improve safety and preserve insurance benefits. MIDDLEPORT A high school senior who worked in a drugstore and a power plant and played in a dance band gave up three jobs to play in the Varieties Show at the Meigs County Fair. He lost 17 dollars and his name was omitted from the paper’s show account. Rev Sayre Resigns as Pastor in Middleport

Middleport reports Rev Guy T Sayre resigns from the Church in Christian Union after several years of service. He cites ill health as the reason. The resignation was delivered to district officers in Circleville last week. The local church recently repaired and redecorated may seek a new full time pastor. Middleport Baptist Youth Fellowship led by Miss Jean Smart planned a fall and winter agenda during a Lake Alma retreat. Rain forced the group to shorten their stay and move to Miss Smart’s parents home for lunch. Miss Smart, a Denison University graduate, will attend Andover Newton Theological School in Boston this fall to study religious education with John Hoyt, ministerial student at Colgate Rochester, as a summer leader. The Meigs County weekly report by state treasurer Roger W. Tracy shows retail sales tax receipts totaling 4113.45 for the week ending Aug 4, down from 6448.44 a year earlier. The drop exceeds 2000 in compared receipts.
