Yankee Cruiser Augusta Struck in Shanghai Battle
The United States cruiser Augusta flagship of the American Asiatic fleet was rushed to Shanghai after Japan China hostilities began. A shell hit today wounded 18 of 554 sailors and killed one. Built in 1931 the Augusta carries nine eight inch guns and four anti aircraft guns under Admiral Harry E. Yarnell.
