Ten men arrested after a clash between non union and union mine workers in Chauncey Friday night were bound over to the grand jury on charges of assault riotous assembling and battery under bonds totaling 4400. The defendants include William Collins Jr James Smith Russell Cunningham Pete Watkins Lewis Chapman Elmer Isnaugle Abner Phillips Hoyt Courtney and John Palmer. Arch Cullum paid a 150 fine and was released after pleading guilty to possession of intoxicating liquor when 210 bottles were found in his home near East Bridge.

Arrest in Sugar Creek drunken driving accident
Ernest West of Sugar Creek was arrested on intoxication and driving charges after a collision north of the city. He pleaded not guilty and was bound over to the grand jury under $500 bonds. West allegedly failed to slow on Sugar Creek road and struck Alice Beasley of Athens driving a touring car. Sheriff Williams arrested West at his home on an affidavit by traffic officer Wilson Ator. Beasley’s car had a damaged fender. West’s car was badly damaged.
