Taxing Margaret Creek owners to fund six dam project
The Margaret Creek Conservancy District levies a 1 percent assessment on property values to raise 215770.84 for local costs of six dams and to back federal grants. Floyd Williams notes construction costs rose 56 percent since 1966 and four dams are finished with a fifth nearly complete. The deadline is September 7 with a 10 percent early payment discount.
