State Park Division Ponders New Site Cedar Point Purchase
Ohio's State Park Division weighs Cedar Point on Lake Erie's 400 acres for a potential third state beach park. W W Flickinger warns mixed feelings due to lack of sewer, roads, and parking plus possible legislative resistance to operating the amusement park at the Point. In 1955, park attendance reached 10.6 million across 46 parks, with Indian Lake the most visited at 1.7 million. The system includes 18 state parks, two beach parks, eight recreation reserves, and more, costing over four million dollars to run and upgrade.
