The Alexander Local School Board approved a 4.1 mill renewal levy for the November ballot. The board also voted to raise school lunch prices at the start of the year from 50 to 60 cents for adults and 30 to 40 cents for students.
Athens adds Dr James L Riestenberg as its new dentist starting today. He will take telephone appointments at 593 8530 and operate from the Biggs Building on 11 E Washington St. He is a Notre Dame graduate who studied at Ohio State University College of Dentistry, with plans to relocate his family to Coolville Ridge in September.
Athens Police and Firemen's Ball will feature Dale Wallace and The Country Wonders providing music. The event, sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 55 and IAFF Local 2021, starts at 9 a.m. Saturday at Lakeview Center with a $1 door donation benefiting charitable projects.
