Meigs Fair Entries Rise for 101st County Event
Meigs County fair opens Monday with higher entries across departments. Horse conformation up 80 from 45 last year, flowers and plants 150 from 89, domestic arts 123 from 107. A new midway plan is in place. Dine Amusement Co. moves in Sunday. tents and displays go up Sunday. stores plan early closures Thursday for the fair.

Forty three Middleport youngsters earn swimming badges
Forty three area youngsters were awarded swimming badges and Red Cross buttons today at the Middleport pool after a two week session. Awards covered beginning, first year and advanced courses with replicas and buttons. Final tryouts for the water show on August 25 at 9 a.m. will be held at the pool with relay races diving exhibitions water games and synchronized swimming.
