Fire Devastates Laird and Nearby Buildings in Athens
A destructive fire in Athens early Monday morning destroyed the interior of Laird’s Main Street block, burning the Laird property and several adjoining structures including Mrs Blackstone’s millinery and a Roach brothers grocery. Firefighters saved much of the Blackstone millinery, but widespread damage and water loss followed. arson is suspected with no suspect identified.
