Nelsonville foundation to push forward after school save
Nelsonville Restoration Foundation plans continuing work in the community after saving the former Nelsonville High and Junior High. Members Gettle and Parsley told Athens County Commissioners that the group will donate 30000 dollars to a perpetual scholarship with the Nelsonville High School Alumni Association. The sale of the buildings to the Woda Group for redevelopment into apartments is planned at 94000 dollars, with potential use space for Rocky Brands. The county may seek repayment of 76540 dollars in CDBG funds if the foundation is required, but such funds would go into the county revolving loan fund or economic development. The Ohio Development Services Agency will not pursue recovery from the county when sold. The commissioners will decide after confirming the foundation’s ongoing operation.
