The Athens city water bill likely climbs 25 cents starting Sept 21 with a proposed ordinance for 11 rate classes. The move finances a $1 million city share of $2 million water expansions, with a $100000 extra annual revenue goal and a first reading planned for Monday.
Richard Dailey and Richard Blazier claimed junior and senior showmanship titles at the Athens County Fair dairy judging. Runners-up included Dan Carmichael and Jana Chadwell. Forty five boys and girls from the Athens County Children's Home will join children from Southeastern Ohio at the Automobile Club of Southern Ohio annual Orphans' Outing on August 18 at the Scioto County Fair. The 25th anniversary event provides rides, refreshments, entertainment and a picnic dinner funded by club members.
