1500 Letters Circulated On Two District Consolidation Plans
Fifteen hundred letters on the proposed consolidation of the Central Local and Olive-Orange Local School Districts are being prepared for distribution. Petitions to consolidate were presented to the Meigs County Board of Education, with a state education conference held. The plan includes a new high school between Chester and Tuppers Plains, with cafeterias, and a reformulated grade schools, at a total cost of 664 038 dollars. The district faces an eight percent bond potential to raise about 299 400 dollars, plus state aid of 364 638 dollars. The letters cite unsafe facilities and the intent to merge to improve education and property values. Carl Barnhill and Walter Brown will sign, with Mildred Gaul and Charles Humphrey leading circulation.
