Fair weather drew hundreds of Athens County voters to today’s primary polls to nominate Republican and Democratic candidates for the November election. In rural areas, turnout was light in Glouster and Nelsonville as contests centered on county offices while Republican state leaders ran unopposed.
A St Louis banker Charles Kern and his wife were abducted near Defiance Ohio after boarding a Toledo bound train. Police say two men and suspects from the Chappie Moran gang recruited them, with searches underway along highways near Defiance. Kern had earlier secured a 70000 cash draft for a real estate deal.

Defiance reports confirm that Charles Kern and his wife were kidnapped after arriving by train. They were seen leaving with an auto crew of unidentified men, with three waiting in the car and two meeting them on the platform. No coercion was observed by deputies. Defiance lies about 45 miles from Toledo near the Indiana border.

Napper held without bond at Vinton County Jail awaiting arraignment before Judge James W Darby. The couple lived on a hill farm at Hawk's Station and have five children. A special grand jury may be convened once the prosecutor returns from California.
Clifford B. McDermott, of Cleveland, was arrested in Toledo on a warrant for violating Ohio Blue Sky Laws. He is accused of soliciting unlicensed stock trades in Ohio while inducing holders of valuable but unqualified Ohio company stock to trade for nonqualified stocks.
A Cleveland fire trapped a group on the top floor of the Rutherglen Apartments. Firefighters evacuated a score of people, many children, via ladders and smoke-filled halls as residents fled down to safety today.

The crew walked 896 miles and wore out four wheels and several shoes before taking a vacation prior to school. In Cleveland an eight men gang hijacked a three ton truck carrying $2,500 in poultry and eggs from Findlay to a Cleveland warehouse. Owners Morris Drucker and Joseph Winfield were badly beaten and left on a road near Elyria. Winfield freed himself after two hours. Police link the incident to whisky hijackers turning to easy sale fruit and poultry.
