Julia Clem, fourteen, says she killed her husband George Clem by putting poison in his coffee at their Easy town home. He paid her parents $20 for her. Married last June, Clem blames cruelty and seeks escape. Sent to Indiana state girls home until age twenty-one.
Governor Len Small, awaiting trial on charges of misusing state funds, plans to strike back at alleged plotters. He accuses Sheriff Henry Mester and State’s Attorney Fred Mortimer of orchestrating a "plot" and will display what his aides call protected vice and crime related to his prosecution. They could not agree on details and resumed talks after lunch with President Millerand. Experts drafted a plan for plebiscite division but faced partisan deadlock and will forward results to the supreme council for decision.
