New Ruling On Car Distribution Hits Hocking Valley Rail
Independent coal operators hail the Interstate Commerce Commission ruling in the car distribution case against the Hocking Valley railroad. Cars entering a district must count toward that district quota and be apportioned to shippers, likely raising coal prices and equalizing terms with private buyers. The decision may address diverting cars to Kanawha and Michigan when Hocking Valley could not operate mines. A fuller ruling is expected soon.
