Dynamite Truck Explosion Fatal in Roseburg Downtown
A dynamite truck parked beside a burning building exploded early today in Roseburg Oregon. At least eight people were killed and many injured as the blast leveled six blocks of warehouses and residences. The fire raged for about four hours and debris spread through a similar area as 52 were hospitalized. The driver George Rutherford of Chehalis Wash survived with noncritical injuries. First identified dead was Assistant Fire Chief Roy McFarland. The scene lies in the lumber belt town about 185 miles south of Portland.

James E. West 27, formerly of Logan, was arrested in Columbus on a sodomy indictment from the February 1958 grand jury and awaits arraignment in Common Pleas Court. West was linked with three other men in immoral acts with eight Logan area juvenile boys. Three men, Donald Warren Haydenville Clyde Simmons Logan, are already serving sentences in Mansfield Reformatory and Ohio Penitentiary.
