NORTHEAST Pa Lake Erie is scanned from air and water for Harold Johnson a 35 year old Carnegie businessman left lashed to a small motorboat by friend Thomas Cook who swam nine miles to shore after the boat was found five miles offshore with no trace of Johnson.
In Painesville Ohio a premature birth weighed Beth Ann Moyer 27 ounces today, four ounces more than birth weight. She is 12 inches long, with four inches gained in the last month, daughter of Mr and Mrs Norman Moyer.
In Columbus, John J. Fyffe, 58, slashed his throat with a five inch fish knife and died today after attacking his estranged wife Mary, 48, at her Hilliard residence. Mrs. Fyffe was hospitalized in critical condition with knife wounds. Fyffe worked for a railroad construction company. they had been married 35 years.
Four of five prisoners who escaped from a Stark County Jail dormitory were still at large today. Hugo Frank said one fugitive, Eugene Milton, 21, returned to the jail and surrendered yesterday.
A Erie Railroad freight train derailed three miles north of Meadville Pennsylvania, ripping up 300 feet of track and derailing 26 cars. Five crewmen were uninjured in the incident.
