Sheriff Wayne Wingett said John Darnell and Everett Wade both 17 of Canaanville are in custody after a $35,000 Baltimore and Ohio freight wreck at Stewart on Wednesday. Wade and Darnell admitted riding a freight and Darnell tested an air brake. investigators say the crash split the train into two sections, nine cars derailed, oranges and lemons from California scattered, witnesses to the attempt. Two other youths from Denver, Claude and Charles Arnold, are being held as witnesses. Prosecutor Bolin said affidavits will be filed and the youths will be tried in Probate Court under sections on brake tampering and climbing on cars. penalties include fines and potential jail terms.
