Athens County charter protest heads to state ruling and ballot fate

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted will decide the Athens County charter issue along with similar cases from Fulton and Medina counties. The Athens County Board of Elections had found the charter invalid, but proponents requested referral to the state. Parties have a tight deadline to file arguments and supporting documents by Friday at 5 p.m. and may include other interested parties. The advisory notes a decision will be issued by August 13, 2015.

Nelsonville Council field grows as two incumbents not seeking re election

Five candidates are running for three Nelsonville City Council seats per the Athens County Board of Elections.
