West Virginia Regents bar media from meetings
The State Board of Regents voted to hold meetings in executive session, banning news media. President John E. Amos, angered by a prior on the record remark, escorted four female reporters from the governor’s conference room and defended the closed policy. He cited efficiency and control as reasons while questions arose over $57 million in state funds. Witnesses noted a clash with press and public rights during the panel’s news conference.
