Thirty eight Nelsonville retailers plan Appreciation Days starting Monday with coupon distribution on August 22. A weekly 3 p m Saturday drawing exposes shoppers to a shared appreciation fund redeemable at participating stores.
The Athens County Antique Auto Association met at Dale and with Kenneth Davis hosting. Fifteen members enjoyed dessert. They plan to join the Parade of the Hills and a car meet in Nitro West Virginia on Aug 22 and held a wiener roast Aug 29 at Nelsonville City Park starting 5 30 p m. The event is sponsored by the Association.
Rex Donald Reeves of Albany Route 3 pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated before Mayor William Hoffman. He was fined 150 dollars plus costs and sentenced to three days in city jail. Wilfred Dale Knott of 127 Mill Street pleaded innocent but was found guilty on an unsafe operation charge and fined 10 dollars plus costs, the fine suspended for a good driving record.
Hocking Valley Hospital Notes lists admissions and dismissals including John Aurand Freda Herring Chris Huffines and others. Nelsonville reports reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints picnic at Rachelmacher Park with worship at 9 am and lunch at noon. Safety Director Bent ley issues notices to property owners over weeds trash and old car ordinances.
About 20 people attended the recent covered dish dinner during family night at the Straitsville Methodist Church. Local residents and visitors include Fred Devol and family from Pompano Beach Florida visiting relatives, and numerous trips to Columbus and Akron as relatives are cited across the region.

Logan County community committeemen ballots will be tabulated in the Hocking Agricultural Stabilization Conservation office on N Market St Friday to determine next year's ASC community committeemen and the delegate to the county convention. The county convention open to the public will be in the local office August 14 at 9 am. Logan-Hocking County 4H Band also plans an ice cream social at Laurelville Park with the Allepak program to start.

The annual election of officers for the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Nelsonville was held with Pastor John Anderson and District President Glen Johnston presiding. Elected were branch pastor Elder David Mingus Sunday school director Elder D O Norris branch secretary Wilma Grubb music director Sheila Robinette women's leader Marjorie Bellville treasurer Virginia Mingus youth leader Miss Robinette branch auditors Earl Wolfe Mr Norris. Appointive officers include church recorder Ruth Bentley church solicitor Earl Wolfe church historian Mr Wolfe publicity agent Helen Robinette book steward Myrtle Mourne.
